Houston Skyline
I captured this panorama of the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco at the end of March 2010 as part of a project to document San Francisco using mixed media. I captured gigapixel and 360 panoramas as well as audio. It has taken me much longer than anticipated to work on these images. This is meant to be viewed larger and complement other captures from San Francisco.

Portland from the east side boardwalk
This was taken from the Steel bridge. I had to make several attempts to avoid the Street car trains, buses, cars, and bicycles disturbances to the Steel Bridge.

Portland from the east side boardwalk
Portland from the east side boardwalk along the Willamete river at twilight. There is a really nice boardwalk that runs along the the core of the city on the Willamete river. A convenient place to cross is at the Hawthorne bridge and the Steel bridge. Many people ride their bicycles, run, and walk along this route.

Broadway Bridge
I could see the sparks flying from welders working on the Broadway bridge as I set up to photograph it. I was hoping to capture some of these sparks to make the photograph more interesting, but they must have stopped welding during the capture. The city is continuing to build the rest of the street car loop and the Broadway bridge is at the northern part of the loop. This is a difficult bridge to capture well because it is difficult to find a clear view with the bridge at an angle.

“Sweet Snacks” at the Portland Bridge Festival

Sweet Snacks Sweet Snacks performed at the after party for the Portland Bridge Festival.  They were so much fun and easy to work with.  http://sweetsnacks.tv/ The next photograph is the Soul bus on the Hawthorne bridge which is 100 years old as of 2010.  It was a little scary when the soul bus was in action as hundreds of people dancing in step caused the bridge to sway.  Poor Mrs Hawthorne had enough and the Soul bus was off to the after party.  Thanks to Tucker and his team for organizing and running the festival. http://pdxbridgefestival.org/ Portland Bridge Festival 2010: Hawthorne bridge & Soul Bus

Houston Skyline
I would like to return to Houston again. I may have difficulty tolerating the heat after living in Portland for so long, but the people were very friendly and made me feel welcome. This was taken from Sabine park which is my favorite park in Houston. I spoke to a few people who had just finished kayaking on the bayou and used the park for access to the water.

Portland from 16th at Twilight
Ironically I have planned and tried so many times to capture the skyline where I live and things always seem to happen. I finally captured something reasonable to show. Maybe the irony is due to taking things for granted and not making it a priority.
